Low Energy and Construction Costs
Electric and gas rates for industrial, commercial and residential customers are below the national average. Local utilities have excess capacity for current and future growth.
There are a number of local construction companies in the region as well as developers that would consider build-to-suit and lease-purchase arrangements for new construction.
ELECTRIC SERVICE
Duke Energy provides electric service for the Henderson-Vance County region. It’s a Fortune 125 company and one of the largest electric power holding companies in the U.S. with 7.6 million customers across six states. The company has nearly 50,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity and operates with a corporate mission to constantly modernize its energy grid while generating electricity with continuously cleaner, smarter processes and systems.
WATER AND SEWER
The City of Henderson Public Works Department provides water and sewer services with potable water from the Kerr Lake Regional Water System. The city maintains approximately 10,000 water /sewer taps with 195 miles of water and 165 miles of sewer line. There is abundant fresh water storage capacity with 1,500,000 gallons in elevated tanks. Personnel are on call around the clock to handle any emergency situations.
NATURAL GAS SERVICE
Dominion Energy is part of a holding company that has supplied power and fuel in the Carolinas for over 170 years. Dominion has a major service region centered around Henderson and Vance County. The company provides natural gas service to 570,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. Dominion Energy is committed to constantly upgrading its transmission, distribution and service lines and has converted 35% of its vehicle fleet to run on CNG (compressed natural gas) and they are committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions – both carbon dioxide and methane – for all of their electric and natural gas operations by 2050.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Residents and businesses in Henderson and Vance County are served by more than one dozen internet providers, with the majority of data service provided by two world-class providers, CenturyLink and Spectrum. CenturyLink is the third largest telecommunications company in the U.S. behind AT&T and Verizon. It’s also a Fortune 500 company and member of the S&P 500.
