Recent Investments
- Jerry's Artarama a national distributor of art and craft supplies announced on July 17, 2008 a $4.5 million warehouse expansion in the Henderson-Vance Industrial Park. The expansion will add 80,000 sq. ft. to Jerry's existing 80,000 sq. ft. facility. The warehouse will ship art and craft supplies all over the country for customers ordering by mail and online. Jerry's currently has about 20 employees in Vance County and the project will add about 40-50 more.
- Saint-Gobain Containers, Inc. recently completed a multi-million dollar project in May 2008 that ecompassed repairs and upgrades to the manufacturing equipment and furnaces in Henderson. The plant employs approximately 285 persons in the manufacturing of glass containers for customers in the eastern United States.
- Florida Marine Tanks purchased two former Custom Molders facilities totaling 87,000 sq. ft. for the manufacture of boat tanks in December 2006. The company plans to start production in March and will employ 100 persons in three years. The facilities are located in the Henderson-Vance Industrial Park.
- Vescom America, Inc. purchased the former Royal Home Fashions 75,000 sq. ft. building located on Ross Mill Road on September 6, 2006. The company will employ 75 persons. Vescom is a manufacturer of vinyl wall coverings. The company plans to open in spring of 2007.
- Ashley Furniture HomeStores opened on Dabney Drive March 15, 2006. The 31,000-square-foot store features a full line of home furniture and furnishings. Ashley employs 30 people, including several at a distribution wearehouse on Raleigh Road. Ashley Furniture HomeStores sells furniture only from Ashely Furniture Industries Inc., the largest home furniture manufacturer in the United States and the number one-selling brand of home furniture in North America. The first Ashley Furniture HomeStore opened in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1997. Since then, more than 200 HomeStores have been opened throughout North America.
- IAMS Company, a Proctor & Gamble company, has announced a $6 million expansion of its facility in the Henderson-Granville Industrial Park. IAMS is building a new 70,000-square-foot warehouse/distribution center and plans to add 10 new jobs.
- Dabney Exchange Shopping Center is under development on Dabney Drive at US 158 By-pass. Businesses located there include Eckerd's, Ruby Tuesday, Smithfield Foods, Chick-Fil-A, Advance Auto, U.S. Cellular and Kelly Rentals.
- BB&T Bank recently opened a new facility at the former Corbitt Hills Shopping Center located on Dabney Drive.
- The Western Outer Loop Transportation Project from Ruin Creek Road to County Home Road is open. The Loop will relieve traffic congestion on Dabney Drive. Widening of Ruin Creek Road from Graham Avenue to US 158 by-pass is now complete.
- North Park Commercial Center on Beckford Drive has located its second occupant. The first was the Henderson office of the Social Security Administration. Lighthouse Entertainment has a new recreation/entertainment center under construction there. The primary focus of this complex will be entertainment options for the young child, including a 4,800-square-foot bounce room divided into two bounce areas and theme party rooms.
- The Kerr-Lake Regional Water System's $3.6 million renovation and expansion of the system plant is under way. The project will add a back-up line for the intake structure and an additional intake pipe.
- The Embassy Square in downtown Henderson houses the 25,000 sq. ft. state of the art H. Leslie Perry Library that has officially opened.
- Two new residential subdivisions are now under way. Somerset Plantation, a 50-plus lot development is on Kerr Lake. Huntstone, a 200-plus lot development, is located on US 158 Business near the Granville County line.
- Affiliated Computer Systems, a healthcare systems provider has announced 75 new jobs at its Henderson Call Center. ACS currently has 75 employees at the current 32,000-square-foot facility in Triangle North Corporate Park. As the nation's largest government program pharmacy benefits administrator; ACS serves 20 programs in 17 states with drug expenditures totaling more than $13 billion. The Fortune 500 company has more than 47,000 people supporting commercial and government client operations in nearly 100 countries.
- Jerry's Artarama, a wholesaler/retailer of art and craft supplies, has announced an expansion of their distribution facility in the Henderson-Vance Industrial Park. The existing 40,000-square-foot facility will be doubled and up to 15 new employees added. Jerry's is headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., and currently sells through eight retail outlets, catalogs and the internet.
